Kate’s Wedding Tiara
When celebrities get married, much attention is paid to the ceremony as well as all of the activities that surround that amazing day. The way the flowers look, the decorations and the wedding dress itself are some of the areas of focus when a celebrity wedding is covered by the media. Media personalities will even camp out outside of the wedding spot to catch a glimpse of the star-studded guest list and attendees. The recent nuptials between Prince William and Kate Middleton were a spectacle to say the least, with all of the ceremony being broadcast throughout the world. No detail was left unnoticed as the flowers, parade and hats were on display for all to see. The wedding dress was also a main topic of discussion among the onlookers as well as fashionistas across the world stage. It was stunning and was complimented by amazing diamond jewelry that was custom made for her by famous London jeweler Robinson Pelham. Pelham was instrumental in providing Kate and her family with stunning jewelry that was themed correctly and made of the most precious of materials. The most talked about piece of jewelry that Kate wore was the tiara that held her veil out of her face. It was made in 1936 by Cartier and has been in the Royal Family for quite some time. It was originally bought by King George VI for Queen Elizabeth’s mother. When the Queen turned 18, she received it from her mother as a birthday present. It has remained with her ever since and she loaned it to Kate for the ceremony. You never can tell, the Queen just may give it to Kate eventually as gift as that is the tradition with royalty. The Queen gave Diana a similar gift back in 1981 when she was married, so it would not be out of the question for her to give the tiara to Kate as a present down the line. The tiara is elegant and dainty and includes some very exquisite scroll details as well as many diamonds that accent the piece, but do not overwhelm the piece as to allow the beauty of the wearer, in this case Kate, to shine. That should be the goal of any type of jewelry, to let the owner or wearer shine and have it simply compliment.
The tiara isn’t the only piece of jewelry worn by Kate that received some praise. She was also wearing a beautiful pair of earrings meant to compliment the headpiece. They were also designed by Pelham and featured a design that mimicked cues from the new coat of arms bestowed on the Middleton family. The earrings were fashioned with dangling acorns and utilized the oak leaf, two main focal points of the new family crest. The earrings were a gift from Kate’s parents and Pelham also designed the earrings worn by the maid of honor. Whether you were interested in the Royal Wedding or not, it is still an amazing sight to see all of the jewelry that was worn on that day, designs that will no doubt stand the test of time and become very popular very soon.
